beepsbleepsandsqueeks 5.0

Well, we're finally back with the latest and last beepsbleepsandsqueeks podcast.
February 19, 2008 07:47 PM PST
Welcome along to the 4th installment of the beepsbleepsandsqueeks show. We kick off this edition with a C2 reworking of an old classic, before turning all squelchy courtesy of Warps latest recruits. CAN YOU SPELL 313?! Next up, a timeless piece of brilliance from KDJ. It may come from 1996, but it still sounds as though it was made yesterday. As ever we go a little cosmic, with Black Devil and the Idjuts at the helm, before the legendary Baldelli takes us on safari. Back down to earh and everybody's favourite Scandanavians are manning the phones, before Mo' Fulton's Syclops project takes the roof off with a bass line that could turn sensible grown men into deranged, arm-flailing baboons! To round things off, the beautiful Miss Scott gets all Ugly, which slowly and surely brings this episode to a close. Hope you enjoy. Welcome back for the latest chapter of beepsbleepsandsqueeks. A little later than anticipated, but December has been mad hectic. To make up for the lack of action here, keep those eyes peeled for another bonus guest mix coming in January. We kick off this instalment in the usual cosmic discoid way, Prins Thomas on remix duties producing the customary high quality disco-funk we all know and love. Following this up, a modest slice of Morgan Geist brilliance, before turning a little darker in the shape of Quiet Village’s despicably good ‘Desperate Hours’. Moving on into some classic ‘Classic’, made all the more squelchy for our delight by Messer’s Mello and Soloman, before Willie Hutch suffers a mutation at the hand’s of one Mr. Parrish. Ugly indeed. Next up, two El Coco’s get spliced together as though it was always meant to be that way, before breaking it down a little into some timeless Etta James. You can never really have too much Morgan Geist, so there’s a second helping for your aural pleasure, before the acid influenced Subliminal Kid has you bouncing around like some sort of deranged gibbon. To wrap things up, there’s something freshly fried from the electric chair. For me this track sums up what it’s all about; waving your hands around in the air to spine-tinglingly good music. Electric Chair you will be missed. R.I.P. Tracklisting: Mudd – Adventures In Bricket Wood #2 (Prins Thomas miks)[Rong]

Hot on the heels of Big Rahh's excellent guest mix, here's the second installment from the beepsbleepsandsqueeks show. Kicking things off is Prins Thomas' epic 17 minute reworking of Hatchback's "Diamond", a low-slung cosmic wigout to get the heads nodding and feet shuffling. We move on to a pair of down-tempo, deep discoid groovers; the first, another quality reel-to-reel affair from Mark E. The second drops all the way from Oz. It's fair to say I was pleasantly impressed when I first heard this Moodymann-esque, filtered disco house from someone who predominmantly makes hip-hop beats. Good work Mr. FOnk! Next up we've got the massive Marvin-sampling Trusme, bringing yet another quality production. Can they do no wrong? So far so good. As the tempo bolts and chases off, it's time for a little techno, taking the form of Matthew Johnson's excellent Cobblestone Jazz outfit. It's hard to stress how good this trio's 'live' shows are and I'd urge anyone who gets the chance to go check them. Breaking things down we turn to a personal favourite (those pianos on "Open The Door" just ripe for sampling I reckon), before dropping into a classic slice of Fench deepness and a touch of Moodymann production excellence. Next up, Baltimore's finest goes all broken, before the afro-disco stylings of "Pygmy". Some classic Salsoul tidies up the loose ends, before a nice chunky slice of Weather Report wraps things up nicely. Cosmic. Hope you enjoy. Ok, so here's my first offering. Across the board, encompassing numerous styles and genres. Originallly recorded in December 2006, a taste of things to come if you like. Dimlite - The Way The Blood Flows [Sonar Kolektiv]
